LABS
HYPERREAL LABS is an off-shoot of Hyperreal, with a focus on funding research into the nature of reality. We’re currently accepting donations in Ethereum to the Hyperreal Labs research DAO at hyperreallabs.eth - a percentage of all future profits will be allocated to the labs and to the HYPERREAL podcast.
PODCAST
From Quantum Physics to Philosophy, Neuroscience to Psychedelics, we're on a mission to understand what's real, what's true and what lies beyond what we can currently measure.
Whatever you think you know; Think again.

SEASON TWO
EPISODE 003: ANTHONY PEAKE - BEYOND ‘REALITY’
This was a wild chat, as usual, with Anthony Peake in which we pick apart the conventional view of reality and ask what might lie beyond…
EPISODE 001: A.I. AS A CREATIVE PARNTER
Is AI coming to take our jobs? Or is it part of an ongoing journey that life is taking to refine itself into a more cohesive intelligence overall? Yep, we might get a little esoteric - but our guests will keep things on the level, with a chat about all the ways that AI is a partner for creativity, rather than a threat to it.
Justin Tagg is joined in a live panel by AI Researcher and Metapoet - Sasha Stiles, Data Journalist - Merzmensch, and CEO of Stck - Samir Patil.

EPISODE 007: ADAM BECKER - PARALLEL WORLDS, PARALLEL SELVES
During this conversation, I talk with Adam Becker about the fundamentals of Quantum Physics. From unpicking notion of an ‘observer’ to the possibility of existing across many worlds, this was a fantastic chat! Do make sure to take a look at Adam’s Book ‘What is Real’ for a beautifully crafted history of Quantum Physics.

EPISODE 006: JOHANNES KLEINER - A MATHEMATICAL MODEL OF CONSCIOUSNESS
There was a time when we thought the world was purely physical and we’d discovered everything about it that there was to be discovered. How strange that looks now as we dive ever deeper into new fields of science, responsible for taking our scientific discoveries from the third, to the first person. Johannes Kleiner is one of those scientists, working in the new scientific field of consciousness where mathematical models may yet be able to reveal predictable structures behind our day to day experiences.

EPISODE 005: DR. VINCE POLITO - ALTERED STATES
This episode is a wild tour of altered states, shepherded by Dr. Vince Polito of McQuarrie University. From dreaming and hypnosis, to the new science of psychedelics and how virtual environments could help us understand our own minds. Here’s a question to be asking as you listen in - what exactly is the thing you call ‘I;? If we’re talking about the sensory inputs that make up your consistent experience of the world, you might find it’s a lot less permanent and predictable than it seems moment by moment. Enjoy!

EPISODE 004: JONATHAN GORARD - THE COMPUTATIONAL UNIVERSE
In this episode I’m talking to Jonathan Gorard, from Wolfram Physics who recently presented their current progress towards a new Fundamental theory of Physics. We talking about computation being more prime than mathematics, how a causally predictable system impacts free will and how you (yes, you) can help the team to carry this work forwards. This episode was a lot of fun, though I would recommend having a browse of the Wolfram Physics launch material before listening. It’ll really help when we start talking about Apples and Oranges…

EPISODE 003: ANTHONY PEAKE - UNRELIABLE NARRATORS
In this episode I sit down with Anthony Peake, author of eleven incredible books, including ‘The Doors of Perception’ and ‘Is There Life After Death’. We discuss his ‘Cheating the Ferryman’ hypothesis, deja vu, synchronicities and how we struggle to be objective about reality, which, it turns out, is much stranger than we ever thought possible.

EPISODE 002: DONALD HOFFMAN - THE CASE AGAINST REALITY
In this episode I spend time with Don Hoffman, author of ‘The Case Against Reality’ to talk about his Interface Theory of Perception, which suggests that our experience of reality could be akin to an operating system on your computer. Rather than showing us reality as it is, we’re shown an interface that makes it easier for us to make efficient decisions. But what does this mean for the concept of a ‘self’? And could it spell the end of spacetime?

EPISODE 001: WELCOME TO HYPERREALITY
What is real? What is true? You could argue that both depend on your perspective, that both are contextual. But what lies beyond context? What happens when we dig down to the source code upon which the rules of our world are built?
What will we find then?
I don’t know, and neither will my guests… not entirely, but they’ll be in the best position to help us in our mission.
From quantum physics and philosophical speculation to sincere conversation about how we build structures of meaning and trip over our own blind spots, this podcast isn’t so much an answer, as a guide to better questions.
That is, of course, if you’re willing to come along for the ride…
Hold on to your hats, because what we call ‘reality’ is stranger than you could possibly imagine.
